bluespace environments

  • carries out research into well being and its enhancement and sustainability particularly for  older people, housing and neighbourhoods specialising in older people's needs, environmental planning, landscape architecture and urban design;
  • has in-depth participatory appraisal, interviewing and survey expertise and a variety of research skills to ensure that the richest data for the project can be collected;
  • adds value to proposals and the design and development skills base of other professionals through its expertise in the engagement of communities, research and evaluation.
  • In addition to research projects, Sue has presented at conferences and workshops, published in journals, books and evaluated sites for the CABE’s electronic project library.

  • Ageing, Vitality and Health working with the Institute of Ageing and Health for Tyne and Wear Museum's Service 2010-11 The project evaluated existing and new projects and their role in and benefits to the well being of older people.
  •  
  • Tranquillity Mapping National Mapping Project 2006-09 for the Campaign to Protect Rural England. The study to develop a national map for England was project managed and researched by bluespace environments for Northumbria University and included national community consultation.
  • Landscape Institute Conference 2008 - Presentation of an interactive workshop on older people’s housing environments to Landscape Architects
  • Older people’s housing with Northern Architecture 2007 on their HOME project.
  • Green Exercise 2006-07 (Client consortium including Sport England, Gateshead PCT, Natural England). The practice worked with Northumbria University's Participatory Appraisal Unit for a client consortium to consider physical activity, the role of green spaces and the engagement of hard to reach groups.
  • Public Space Vitality 2006-07 Culture N.E. and OneNE . The project for Newcastle University valuated a variety of spaces in the region for their physical qualities and the contribution made to the cultural and economic life of the community.
